These agencies and associations specifically serve California elderly residents by helping them access social services such as case management, friendly visitors programs, affordable housing, health care assistance and legal issues.

Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California:

Offers a weekly LGBT Alzheimer’s caregiver support group in San Francisco county.

Equality California:

EQCA works to achieve equality and secure legal protections for LGBT people. To improve the lives of LGBT Californians, EQCA sponsors legislation and coordinates efforts to ensure its passage, lobbies legislators and other policy makers, builds coalitions, develops community strength and empowers individuals and other organizations to engage in the political process.

THE LGBT Community Center of the Desert:

This is California’s SAGE affiliate (operates independently from SAGE USA) in Palm Springs, California. They offer local health and wellness programs and educational and social events. Their Sustenance for Seniors program provides food for low income LGBT Riverside County residents.

The Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center Senior Services:

Offers free and low cost case management services and referrals to LGBT people that are 50 years and older for affordable housing, benefits, home health assistance, and legal issues. Primarily serves Los Angles County residents.

The LGBT Community Partnership is a grassroots group of service providers, consumers, and advocates. The Partnership is dedicated to improving access to quality services for older adults and adults with disabilities. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month.

Lavender Seniors of the East Bay:

Lavender Seniors provides social support services for LGBT older adults particularly those who are isolated, vulnerable, disabled and at risk. To help alleviate the feelings of loneliness and isolation that some aging LGBT experience, they offer friendly visitors programs and monthly lunches.

The LGBTQ Senior Outreach & Advocacy Program (SOAP) is designed to both educate senior care facility staff on cultural competency issues and to advocate for LGBTQ seniors who may be experiencing discrimination at skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, senior living, etc.
