DRA Update (6/27/08): SB 483 Passes Assembly Health


SB 483 (Kuehl), which incorporates the Department of Health Care Services’ provisions for implementing the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 changes to the Medicaid rules, passed the Assembly Health Committee on June 24, 2008 on a vote of 10-4. Although several Republican members expressed their concern that increasing the equity limit to $750,000 would cost the state money, it is clear that since the state does not now impose any equity limits, any imposition of equity limits would, in fact, result in cost savings. The bill will next go to Assembly Appropriations, then to the Governor’s desk. Note that the bill’s provisions will not be implemented until non-emergency regulations are filed with the Secretary of State. For more information on the DRA and SB 483, see this link:
