2019Patricia McGinnis, CANHR’s Executive Director, was selected as an AARP Well-Being Champion for the AARP Public Policy Institutes’ Culture of Health initiative to champion change across America in the areas of health and well-being. Ms. McGinnis, one of ten leaders, all of whom are 50+, was selected as a change agent for nursing home practices. 2015The National Center on Caregiving at Family Caregiver Alliance and The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation selected CANHR as the winner of the 2015 Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiving Legacy Award in the Public Policy category for our Campaign to Eliminate the Inappropriate Use of Psychotropic Drugs and Improve Dementia Care in Nursing Homes project. CANHR is particularly honored to receive recognition for our efforts in this area. The award will be presented at a reception at the American Society of Aging Conference in Washington, D.C. on March 22, 2016.
2015CANHR received the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (Consumer Voice) 2015 Public Service Award for an organization whose work has profoundly expanded coverage and public understanding of long-term care issues. November 6, 2015
2014Prescott Cole: Legal Assistance for Seniors – Outstanding Service Award in recognition of his leadership in keeping elders safe

2014Prescott Cole, CANHR’s Senior Staff Attorney, was presented with the prestigious Sentinel Award. The lifetime achievement award, presented by former Attorney General and current California State Treasurer, Bill Lockyer, was awarded to Mr. Cole for his advocacy to protect elders from financial abuse and exploitation and the prosecution of those who abuse them.

2010Prescott Cole, CANHR’s Senior Staff Attorney, was selected by California Lawyer Magazine as a 2010 Clay Award winner and Attorney of the Year under the Elder Law category.

2006CANHR was awarded the 2006 Community Service Learning Community Partner Recognition Award by San Francisco State University, Office of Community Service Learning. The award is given to one community partner per year that demonstrates excellence in the supervision, mentoring, and placement of SFSU students in meaningful service opportunities.
