California Nursing Home Complaints at Unprecedented Levels

Nursing home care is far more objectionable than it has ever been, according to the latest numbers of complaints filed with the Department of Public Health (DPH). For the first time ever, the annual number of complaints has exceeded 10,000. In fiscal year 2017-18, there were 10,021 complaints filed against nursing homes. This is up over 54% in just four years. Due to the overwhelming number of complaints, the backlog of unfinished nursing home investigations is near a staggering 16,000 cases. Needless to say, the fight for nursing home reform has never been more important.
