Federal Enforcement Actions Against CA Nursing Homes Skyrocket

Federal enforcement actions against California nursing homes have risen a whopping 366% in recent years.  From 2016-2019, the average number of enforcement actions was 279, with 218 of those including fines.  In 2020-23, enforcement actions were undertaken an average of 1,300 times per year, with 979 of them including fines.  This remarkable increase in enforcement actions strongly indicates that nursing home compliance with federal care standards has never been worse.  To see data on federal nursing home enforcement action, go to https://qcor.cms.gov/main.jsp
