A free workshop on avoiding elder financial abuse will be held on April 2, 2013 at the Magnolia Place Family Center in Los Angeles. The workshop, What You Need to Know About Elder Financial Abuse, is sponsored by California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR), with Prescott Cole, CANHR’s senior staff attorney as keynote speaker. Mr. Cole will discuss common schemes and effective strategies to avoid financial abuse scams, including dangerous reverse mortgages, annuity scams, long term care insurance policies, and nursing homes and VA benefit scams.
